Novell’s choice of GNOME over KDE (And where did my post quality go)
As a consultant, I’ve been using and recomending SuSE to my smb customers since version 6.X
Mostly, this recommendation was due to its stability and its KDE-centricness, that made it specially useful for desktop users.
Gnome is OK for servers, but it’s impossible to business desktop users.
It looks like I’ll have to try Mandrake.

Novell Open PR - KDE and GNOME
um… What?
The comments and points here are rather interesting (apart from the usual morons this kind of article attracts).
Alot of the comments seem to be geared around Novell being “a follower”, ie, using a specific technology over another. “Following” isn’t really thad bad in my opinion - if its good technology and it seems to be in common use, why differentiate just to be “different”. In Novell’s case its using GNOME over KDE. Another comment as follows provides an interesting id
I think it has little to do with being a follower and more to do with being able to get government contracts. Gnome has gone to great lengths to meet the usability requirements for disabled persons which can be the difference when it comes to getting government contracts.

This blog post is not supposed to be one of those opensource discussion writeup ma-jiggys - just thought id write a little about it.

…and good luck, Daniel Cardozo, finding a company called Mandrake.
