Software Causes Death
Thursday, June 23rd, 2005Since the company I am working for is in the freight industry we have a lot of clients around in the Asia-Pacific region. I was told something very disturbing today about the Chinese Customs laws by one of our managers - if the data is incorrect (even a missing character) in an Import Customs Declaration, the legal penalty is death. I didn’t know we had to deal with this kind of responsibility in our company - I have great respect for those developers who work on this module, because so far, there has not been any deaths.

Thursday, June 16th, 2005Well today my boss got sick of using a really shitty mail component in our product and decided we needed a new one - so he said - “What about an open source one?”. So it looks like we might be adopting two abandoned projects on source forge. Rock. What do you think Ben?
