iBurst down?
Monday, May 30th, 2005Anybody who is a recent customer of iBurst (and are reading this because they are lucky enough to have a land line) for some reason not able to connect? My provider tells me PIPE is having troubles with a new system of some kind, I’m just trying to figure out whats going on - the connection has been down for days.
F**cking netouts.
EDIT: It’s hard to work on cool stuff when you don’t have cooler stuff (such as GNOME devel libraries) . I want to finally finish my nautilus Drag-n-Drop with the suggested usability and looking-less-like-apple stuff Sri suggested.
Netscape: I didn’t even consider.
Monday, May 30th, 2005I use both Windows, Mac and Linux as operating systems - so I use alot of mix and match software. But I didn’t even consider Netscape 8 - what does it even have over Firefox and Safari?. A pretty old brand name, I guess.
IBurst Wireless: Getting connected
Thursday, May 26th, 2005I’m totally getting all connected today through an IBurst reseller, Geckonet. I have my modem (when I plug it in, I get a full signal, so thats rocking) and the payment should go through sometime this afternoon - woo! Internet!. Best part about it is the $70-$80 AUD I pay for a static IP, 512 connection, unlimited downloads and No shaping
I was using a MA111 802.11b USB wireless card on my Hoary machine (did not work out of the box, mind) and decided - hey, I live in the CBD and I want to check for accesspoints. So I run down the the local 7/11, purchace some pringles, dump the chips on my desk, hack a hole at the end of the tube and sick the wifi card through the hole - turns out there are about 150 different accesspoints accessable via this make shift setup. You should have seen the logs!

Wednesday, May 18th, 2005All moved out
Tuesday, May 17th, 2005So I moved out. Said good bye to the folks on the 14 of May, 2005, and moved in with some really cool flatmates in Darlinghurst Sydney. Yes I know, how gay of me. Im 5 minutes walk now from every gaybar in the whole of Sydney, so mums and dads, lock your young men up.
Getting connected to Geckonet, an iBurst reseller. They look all right and they have very personal service, which you dont get from ISP’s these days.
The CBD is a awesome place to live, just don’t walk the back streets at night and always go out with someone else and you will be right. Going from the city to work is like 40 minutues instead of 1 and a half hours (rock!) from Dee Why, so I get much more rested.
So yeah. Life.

I hope you like it: Electric Tide
Friday, May 13th, 2005Just something I started nearly a year ago… this is kinda like my sample of it. I hope you enjoy it.
They sat apon the hilltop looking over the once grand city, its avenues strewn with the shattered memories of millions, its foundations that had supported a fragile society for thousands of years cracked like the dried filth of mud.
A rough breeze blew from the west, carrying a torrent of dust from the wastes on the city’s far edge. A Sky burning.A man spoke aloud and asked himself, “If this is the last trumpet, where is god?”. Not a noise stirred from within the group nor in their surroundings. The evening sky was streaked in fire, as the cities of above fell screaming into the turquoise ocean below.
“For three thousand years…” murmered a plump woman with a swollen face, as she watched a streak of fire across the sky. “We were given the powers of the universe…” replied the man. They watched the remnants of the city till the sunset from the hill on the outskirts of the doomed city, as the lights of the city started blinking out. First those near the city limit, then slowly like an electric tide, the lights crept out in the city center.Mans end and a new beginning in an electric tide.
Quiting Smoking: Day 9
Wednesday, May 4th, 2005I feel totally good. I Think I have the hang of this now. Anyhow, its nice to see Mono 1.1.6 in Breezy (Like, I can finally do some cool mono things) but there seems to be an issue with the monodevelop version available (md 0.5.1 or something). I hope they get a 0.6.x in.
