Quiting Smoking: Day 4

Friday, April 29th, 2005

Woke up this morning, no urge to smoke! Awesome! I’ve been getting really hungry but I have also been controlling how much I eat.

Slug is on tonight and I’m looking forward to it. The guys over at Lug Radio put on a great show which I listened to this morning during my commute. The next few shows will have a Distro-Panel (sit around and discuss different attributes of a distro) in which this episode rated a bunch of distros by Evilness. The least evil distro decided apon was Ubuntu, rock.

Anyone have room?

Thursday, April 28th, 2005

I’m currently looking for a room to rent somewhere close to the CBD of Sydney. Anyone have any room available? I have a stable income and I work nine-to-five, five days a week and I’m usually somewhere on the weekend. Drop me an email if your interested…

Quiting Smoking: Day 3

Wednesday, April 27th, 2005

I’m feeling good. I’m a little more motivated today, the patch made me a little dizzy today (its on my lower back today. NO not my ass TongMaster!) and im feeling comfortable. Its strange breaking the day to day habbits of a smoker. At certain times (such as when IRC goes dead for a while at night) it is my usual habbit to go have a smoke… I still get the instinctive urge todo so. Stress is also another reaction for a smoke and I could have smoked half a packet after work with the stress work and quiting has put on me.

Thanks Auxesis for your words of support.

Good luck with learning to be an oxygen-breather

I am told (I tried fags once when I was a kid and hated them, lucky me), that
it gets easier after the first few days, and _much_ easier after a couple of
weeks. There are many things that help, one which has worked for a couple of
friends of mine is lots of vitamin C, preferably from fresh raw fruit rather
than in tablets or whatever ‘coz then it comes with the enzymes to properly
digest it plus an assortment of other helpful nutrients.

If you can succeed, we can also use you as an example to encourage the few
remaining LCA delegates who smoke but not on principle (some people, when it
comes down to brass tacks, retain the habit mainly as an act of defiance).

Cheers; Leon

Quiting Smoking: Day 2

Tuesday, April 26th, 2005

Yesterday I woke up and decided it was time to stop paying to die and put those nicabate patches I bought a week before on. Yesterday could have been worse. Today, I wake up slightly depressed - its really amazing what drugs can do to the human mind. So I think ill blog this out. The patches made me a little dizzy yesterday, but today I can hardly feel the effect at all.

I feel like a smoke.

We laughed, we cried.

I had a really big netout (you know, a blackout, but the net instead of power) this weekend - chaos and boredom. So I decided it was a good idea to share a large bottle of vodka with my friend and do crazy shit in my house. My head…

Anyway, Ycros starts work at my company today which will be awesome - we can talk nerd like we usually do, but every day…

Seems I cant forward any ports from my router to my internal network - I think my ISP is filtering out ports such as 22… My father thinks its a great idea to change the hardware router every few months (I think he feels cooler todo so) and each iteration of this pattern (the hardware is getting better and better) does not allow me to forward any services. It sucks.

The Parts I Didn’t Expect

Thursday, April 14th, 2005

So I gathered some of you sluggers got to hear the Show last night. Alot of things didn’t go as planned. Shocking news was told to me while I was on air (well, on packet) and things where kind of blerted out. There was slackness all round and no _good_ music was played.

I had Ycros, Lathiat and Stormy join me over Skype (the volume kinda sucked for these guys on stream and Stormy had his mic way to close to the keyboard) and we talked about things that we were hacking on and problems we had with different peices of software and hardware. Then we hit dead air.

Anyhow, I plan todo more shows, somehow without my personal life injecting itself into the convo. And we might plan it too.

Re: The Weekend

As you may remember, I was sick last week. Well, turns out I knew what I was talking about earlier on - I went to the doctors again, this morning where they diagnosed me with pharyngitis

So whats this phary-wa stuff? Its another fancy word for Tonsillitis. So what I gather is that “hey this guy has a repeated history of a disease, he says its come back, so he must know nothing about it, so its just a cold.” and then when I go back its like “you were totally wrong, but here is the same disease with a fancier name so we don’t appear incompetent. Also even though you cant swallow even your own saliva, here are some quite large tablets you need to take four times a day”.

Ill stop here.

But the good news is I came back negative for everything in my blood tests.

I really need a smoke.
